The Worst Day of My Life (and probably the beginning of a bad 3 years!)

It all started with these sad, begging TWO faces. I mean really how could anybody say NO to these faces! Especially since one is a grown man, and should never put his wife through having to say yes or no to that face.

So what were they BEGGING me for?
I think I have made you wait long enough. They wanted a HAMSTER! Josh took the kids to the post office a few days ago and apparently stopped by the pet store on the way home. All I have heard from BOTH of them (and sometimes even Hope if she was around when they were asking) is "Can we PLEEEAASSE get a hamster?" Yes, even from my grown husband. He even went as far as to say one day he could not focus all day in class and studying because all he could think about was getting a hamster. Oh, brother!

If any of you know me AT ALL, or have followed this blog for awhile you know
I. HATE. MICE!!!
Detest them! Terrified of them! Can't sleep when they are in my house because I dream they are eating through my body! HATE THEM! I immediately say there is NO WAY because I can't deal with the stress of having this thing in my house. Josh knows I am TERRIFIED! Why would he even ask me for one and put this kind of pressure on me, and every time with that face? WHY? I felt like the wicked stepmom on cinderella! The days went by and I was still hearing about it. I finally said I would at least go look at them. So we went. The Girls were thrilled. First glance I freaked out and said ABSOLUTELY NOT! NOT HAPPENING! LETS GO! We get out to the car and there is still the face! This is a grown man! It is his house too, and I kind of felt like there is no way I even had a say in this. He made the comment "we'll just wait til she is not with us!" I would much rather have been involved in the horrible act so I could at least get the credit with the girls.

So grinding my teeth, digging my heels and shuddering every second we picked out a dwarf hamster and cage to go with it! I am getting more used too it, but haven't touch it and probably never will. I secretly hope this will help me get over my fear of mice, but doubt it. I will say it is different having them locked in cage, and one you picked out, rather than a free roaming wild thing! And I have to add all the doors on the cage are WIRED shut so the kids CANNOT get into them without Josh! Call me paranoid that is just fine by me!
Brielle ABSOLUTELY adores the thing! She loves to hold her even which I was so surprised by! It kind of creeps me out just watching her hold it but I try not to show that. It actually really likes Brielle too. For some reason it comes out of its house when she talks to it and doesn't run when she holds it! We did name her ROXY, so I guess I should stop calling it an IT, but I think it will always be IT to me! Does this picture remind you of Josh as a kid Barbs?
My big child loves it just as much. He is just reliving his childhood. Although when he was little he had like a village. I have to keep pulling in his reins and reminding him we will NEVER have more than one!
Hope likes it on her own terms. She says she wants to hold it, but then gets squeamish when we let her. She keeps asking though, and definitely loves to pet and play with it. I will try to get pics of her with it later.

So there you have it. The HORRIBLE, UGLY, WORST day of my life made my husband and children so happy!!!! Is it worth it????? I'm not so sure!
Worst day of my life! Best day of Josh, Brielle and Hopes Coming Soon!

Preschool

Brielle started Preschool this week and she is absolutely loving it. Some friends and I are doing a rotation. She had preschool and dance both yesterday and she said "preschool and ballet, yes! This is the best day ever!"

*****Side note: Hope went into ballet yesterday and did perfectly. It was all about the shoes! We had the right shoes on her and she was happy as can be. After class she was showing us everything she learned.

Matts first time seeing the ocean....

It was dark and kind of cold, but we had to take Matt to see the ocean. He had never seen it before. The girls were afraid of the water because it was so dark so they rolled down this hill instead. As you can see they were filthy. luckily it was dark and I couldn't see how dirty they were getting. For some reason I was thinking the because they were dry it wouldn't be so bad.

Ballet

Brielle started ballet last week. She was so excited. We have gone back and forth with Hope, and if she is ready to start, she definitely wants too. I am so happy Josh had the insight to tell me to at least get her a little dance outfit. They have both been wearing them all week.
I couldn't wait for her to get out so she could tell me all about it. I was trying to get every detail out of her. This is after all the first thing she has done away from me. She said that it was so fun, but the teacher has a time out spot that she saves for kids who dont listen. I immediately asked if she had to go to time out. First she said No! Then she said "well yeah mom, but just once. I was going to fast. Did you know ballerinas are slow and pretty?" I hope that is the last of her time out visits.
The lady said Hope could try it for the day so I tried to take her in and she just kept saying "no, no!" so I thought well there is our answer. But then when they shut the door she lost it and kept saying "I ballet with sissy, I ballet with sissy." over and over. They have a little store next door and she found her some shoes that fit and she was ready to go. I think that may have been the problem. She didn't have shoes on when I tried to take her in. This little girl likes to have everything perfect. I am finding that most of her fits are due to things not being quite right. And we have had lots of accidents on the bathroom floor because she must shut and lock the door, flush the potty BEFORE she goes and wait for it to fill (because Brie never flushes) then pull down her pants and then her panties. By then she can't hold it anymore.

Anyways, I am going to get her some shoes and then we may try it again.

I had to throw these pictures of Hopes hair in because Angela and my Mom said that it didn't look that bad. The last pics must not have done it justice! yes, that part on the side is clear to her scalp.

Prego bellies!

22 weeks and 20 weeks

Many of you have heard me talking about my friends Lan. They are our across the hall neighbors, and we share a patio. We are so grateful for them and to have them in our lives. We both have 2 girls about the same ages, so naturally when we got pregnant 2 weeks apart from each other we were sure we would have the same sex. When I found out we were having a boy I just assumed they were too. The thought didn't even cross my mind that they would have a girl. They just found out it is most definitely a girl. We are excited for them but a little shocked. How can this be??? Congrats on little princess number 3 Tim and Lan!

OU vs. BYU Party!

We had a party for the big game! We thought it would be fun since our neighbors are HUGE OU fans! Here is Josh and Tim in their team shirts!

Ernie, trying to calm Tim down after the QB got injured. I really do feel bad Tim!

Josh doing his typical face!

Lan watching in HORROR!

We all know that the evening ended very poorly for our dear friends! Sorry guys! It was a fun excuse to party though!

Hope cut her hair TAKE 2!

Side Note: I did not dress her in these jammies, she picked them out herself!

Don't you just look at this ADORABLE, SQUEEZEABLE, OH SO TENDER TO MOMMY"S HEART, SO SWEET I JUST PUT MYSELF TO BED WHEN I TIRED, Face and just think that she can do NOTHING wrong!

Oh, you don't??? Well I do! I am ALWAYS shocked when I HAVE to get mad at her!

I was NOT thinking these things yesterday.

But, the funny thing is it broke my heart not to think these tender thoughts about my baby. It broke my heart to get down in her face and tell her so sternly (you could consider it yelling) "NO, NO" over and over. And explain to her she could NEVER do this again. All the while watching her tiny lips slowly form into a little pout. And those gorgeous blue eyes rimming with tears as she tries so hard to hold back the inevitable flood. I knew I was not only trying to teach her something, I WAS HURTING HER FEELINGS. It broke my heart, and I know it broke hers because she is SO sensitive.

So what was all the DRAMA that created all these emotions in our house?

Hope cut her hair for the 2nd time! Brielle still has her beat by 2 times and I really hope that she wins this battle!
Having been through it before (ALOT) I would say that this was the WORST we have EVER had, but I actually handled it the BEST! I didn't even shed a tear!
I know all of are saying "Why doesn't she put the scissors away??? Hasn't she learned her lesson!" To answer you question YES! I always keep them up on the fridge, I had gotten them down for Brielle to do something and she got a hold of them!

Ready for the big reveal????

Yup!!! Right down the top of her head! IT IS HORRIBLE! BY FAR THE WORST! and clear to the scalp in some spots!

I was sad and grumpy after! The shopaholic in me said I needed to get out and go shopping! I went to Burlington and bought like 10 headband and a couple hats for $16! These will be permanent fixtures on her head for at least a year!

Here is to a long 2-3 years of growing out this spot. Shoot hopefully by the time she hits kindergarten her hair will be normal!

We are so excited and a little nervous to add a little tiger to the mix of princesses! Brielle keeps saying "Now I will have a little brother and a little sister!" I know some of you are concerned that I can't do boy, but after my day today I am thrilled to have a head of hair I can BUZZ! (Hope cut her hair AGAIN! More to come later!)

What is it about the side profile that I love so much?

20 weeks!

I had my FIRST prenatal appointment today! I know you're thinking 'I thought the title said 20 weeks not 8'! Yeah well with all the craziness of being in Utah this was the soonest I could get in!

I am finally feeling more regular movement! (I swear this came sooner with my girls and it has made me a little nervous!) And, I'm scared to say it in case I jinx myself, but I think I am finally feeling better! I even have a little more energy! It is only 8 weeks late!

We have our ULTRASOUND on Tuesday so everybody take your guess!

Boy or Girl????

I am excited to hear what everybody THINKS we are having so don't hesitate, leave your comment!
