The girls were BIG HELPERS! It is a competition around here who can be the biggest helper. We now have fights over who gets mommy diapers and wipes, burp clothes, and binkies. Just one more thing to fight about.

Rigdon is not the only baby growing around here! These baby hamsters have gotten so big, so fast. They are much cuter with hair. It was a sad day around our house when the mama hamster died. The babies were just BARELY old enough to vend for themselves, and the daddy hamster stepped up his game and snuggled them to keep them warm. We also had 3 of the babies die. We gave 2 to a friend, and we still have 2 left. I think we will have to keep these 2 to make up for Roxy dying. Our numbers just keep growing.

Grandmas first time meeting Rigs!

We were so excited for her to finally get here on the 22nd. We have had so much fun, and the girls just love having her here.

The girls wanted to be wrapped up like a burrito like the their little brother. They thought it was pretty funny.

I was really worried that I would never be able to leave Rigdon anywhere without him getting mauled by the girls. Surprisingly enough, they never have picked him up on their own. Brielle is really good with him, and is actually really helpful when he is awake. He loves to snuggle her.

and I'm sure it is not the last. When I found out we were having a boy this was the first image that came to mind. A little boy surrounded with all things pink! I couldn't help but snap a picture when I came out to find that the girls had covered him in their pink blankets. Poor boy!

Rigdon remains a mommies boy!

He loves to snuggle up on me, and doesn't sleep near as well for Josh. I have mixed feelings about this. Both of my girls have been daddy's girls and I haven't minded a bit.

The Things We've Learned About Rigdon!

* So far he is a pretty chill little guy. He handles his sisters screaming in his ears like a champ. He also didn't seem to mind when they were jumping on the bed with him in the middle. I think it freaked me out a lot more than him!

* My FIRST EVER binky LOVER! The girls never really wanted anything to do with them. He is just a sucker. If the bink is not around he will quickly find any of his fingers. Early tonight he was sucking on his two middle fingers, and I thought it was really cute. With that said, I would much rather he suck on a binky that I can throw away one day.

* Poor little guy has a gassy tummy! I burp him before I even feed him. He then unlatches a couple times, just to burp, and then gets back to business. He throws up A LOT! Pretty much after each feeding a couple times. It seems to be getting better now that my milk is in though.

* I know this could change, but he is a SLEEPER! He has been waking up every 4 hours (almost on the dot) to eat at night. During the day he goes even longer. Today he slept from 12:00 pm until 5:30 pm. I fed him, changed him, let him throw up a couple times and then he was back to sleep. Loving this easy, chill little baby.

* He has mommy wrapped already. Everybody warned me that my little boy would do this to me. I thought they were crazy because I LOVE my girls so much. I think this little guy just loves me so much that I have fallen head over heals. The nurses in the hospital would bring him to me telling me he was fussy. They would hand him to me and he would be asleep in seconds. He is also my first baby to LOVE nursing. What can I say......he just loves me and it makes me crazy for him.

* His tummy was not a big fan of formula. I have never been a great breast feeder. Even when I was breast feeding we always did bottles too. We gave him a bottle and he took it fine, he just immediately threw everything right up. And I mean everything. I pumped and he did a lot better with my breast milk. I don't know how this is going to pan out for me......like I said I have never been a great breast feeder.

* Does not at all have to be held every second of the day. In fact, it has surprised me how much he is NOT being held. I pretty much get my loving in while feeding him and then he is down while he sleeps (which is a lot!) He doesn't seem to mind one bit.

Our house is still crazy. It's pretty much a mess and I am lucky to get the girls dressed, let alone get their hair done. But I really don't care. I am trying to just relax and enjoy the little boy and this phase of our life.

* We went in on Jan. 12th at 7:30 am dilated to a 4. They hooked me up to an IV and put all the monitors on and we waited and waited for the doctor to get there. We had a hard time keeping this little boys heart rate on the monitor. We kept losing it, and I got so nervous every time.

* Doctor came in at 11:00 am and was going to break my water. His head was not as far down as it was the day before so they decided to start me on the pitocin first.

* Waited and waited for his head to drop lower. The contractions were hard, but I wanted to wait for the epidural so that it wouldn't slow me down. Finally at 6:00 pm I gave in and got the epidural. I felt the HUGE needle even after they gave me the numbing shot, so then they had to give me another numbing shot. I have never seen it but from the feel that needle is HUGE!

* I had a spot(again) that wouldn't numb. When there is only a spot, it almost hurts worst. I felt like a knife was just twisting straight through my stomach to my back. It took about an hour longer to get me completely numb, by 7:00 pm I was pain free! Oh thank the Heavens for those blessed epidurals.

*After I got the epidural the doctor came back to check me. I was dilated to a 6 and she broke my water. That was all I needed. I went from a 6 to a 10 in an hour and a half.

* At 9:00 pm the doctor came in and I started pushing and by 9:12 pm we had a beautiful little boy!

Welcome Rigdon Ash

He cried and cried and cried. My girls didn't cry at all or very little. That was not the case with him. He was upset.

Weighing in at 7 pounds 11 ounces. 19 3/4 in. long.

Our Doctor, Dr. Kwan. She was fantastic. She hung around after just kind of talking with us.

They handed him to Josh after weighing him and he was a baby hog. He just took him and walked around with him. I finally asked him if he would at least come sit by me so I could see him too.
This is day 2, almost 24 hours old. I loved spending one on one time with him in the hospital. I knew that it wasn't going to be that way when I got home. I knew the girls were having fun with Josh too, so it wasn't too sad for me.
He is nursing great, and sleeping great. Unlike my girls he also LOVES the bink.

The girls LOVE him! They immediately wanted to put him in his crib, in his bouncer seat, and they made a bed out of a pillow for him as well. I am going to have lots of help. He hasn't even jumped at the sound of their loud voices. I am sure he is used to them by how relaxed he is around them.

When Brielle saw me she asked me if I had another baby in my tummy. I think she was a little confused that my belly was still there. I just explained it took a little while. Nothing like a 4 year old putting on the pressure.

We are so excited to have Rigdon here with us. He is so sweet. We are loving having him in our family.

My worst nightmare has multiplied by 7!








Josh thought something was up before he left to Kansas City. On Christmas Eve he tried to get Roxy out and touched one of the babies which sent Roxy into a frenzy! She immediately carried the babies down a huge tube to another portion of the cage. Josh saw her take 3 or 4. I was mortified.
He cleaned out the cage tonight and there is officially SEVEN! Shoot me now!


Josh is so excited that the girls get to experience this "miracle of life"! What about my "miracle of life"? I swear he thinks this was so much cooler and she was only pregnant for 18 days! He just gets grossed out with everything to do with my "miracle of life"! GO FIGURE!

Anyways- to sum it up we found out that we have a boy and girl, instead of 2 boys! (I know your thinking "why did you name a boy ROXY?") Right? We originally thought she was a girl, and possibly pregnant. Then when no babies came Josh checked again and was sure she was a he! We thought we had 2 boys because we hadn't had babies yet. SURPRISE!

AND
We now have 9 hamsters instead of 2! Don't worry WE ARE NOT KEEPING THEM! We already have a couple people lined up to take some. If anyone wants a hamster.......IT IS YOURS!

Welcome 2010!

Happy new years! We spent our new years eve with some great friends. We ate lots of food. Talked, played catch phrase and let the kids run wild!

Brielle, Sadie, Jocelyn, and Brody had no problem staying awake. They were pretty good though hanging out in Brielle's room. We moved a tv in there and they mostly just watched movies, oh and ate!
